    Working with our suppliers, responsibly

    In accordance with our Supplier Code of Conduct and Ethics and the provisions of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct, we seek to work with suppliers and all other third parties who contribute to sustainable development and are economically, environmentally and socially responsible.

    We will develop, nurture and strengthen relationships with suppliers and all other third parties who are committed to the principles outlined below or to similar standards via their own activities and the management of their own supply chain partners (suppliers and sub-contractors). Suppliers and all other third parties should setup dedicated mechanisms (whistleblowing) to enable their workers to log grievances related to below aspects, confidentially and anonymously.

    The suppliers and contractors are required to adhere to MPI’s Supplier Code of Conduct and Ethics sent to them. In order to ensure effective communication of MPI’s core value and business ethics across our supply chain, the relevant codes and policies are made available in the language of communication used, i.e., English.

    Business Integrity

    Suppliers and all third parties should

    • not tolerate, permit or engage in bribery, corruption or unethical practices
    • comply with all applicable laws and regulations
    • support fair competition, avoid conflicts of interest

    Environmental Performance

    Suppliers and all third parties should have a systematic approach to ensure that their environmental practices comply with all applicable laws and regulations and they achieve continuous performance improvement. Suppliers and all third parties should

    • be committed to protect the environment in compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations;
    • continually look for ways to use energy, water and other resources optimally & efficiently, and to minimize waste, climate change impact including emissions, biodiversity impact, pollution and discharge of their operations, products and services

    Labor & Human Rights, Social Performance

    Suppliers and all third parties should conduct their activities in a manner that respects human rights as set out in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the core conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO). They should take necessary steps to

    • provide a safe and healthy working environment to all the employees in compliance with all applicable occupational safety and health laws and regulations;
    • prohibit use of forced, abusive, illegal and child labour
    • comply with all applicable laws and regulations on freedom of association and collective bargaining
    • provide a secure workplace, not tolerating discrimination, harassment or retaliation
    • comply with all applicable laws and regulations on working hours, minimum wage and benefits
    • respect their neighbours and contribute to the societies in which they operate
    • manage the social impacts of their activities carefully and enhance the benefits to local communities
    • recognize that regular dialogue and engagement with stakeholders is essential. In interactions with employees, business partners and local communities, seek to listen and respond to them honestly and responsibly
